DNSSEC – switching to a new version

On this page

Important: As of 28 January 2026, punktum.dk has removed support for “older algorithms and digest types” for DNSSEC. Punktum.dk emailed everyone affected about this.

If your domain name still uses DNSSEC with one of the older algorithms, replace its DNSSEC as soon as possible, as shown below.

Does your domain name have DNSSEC?

You can check whether your domain name uses DNSSEC with a tool such as https://powerdmarc.com/dnssec-checker/ (opens in a new tab)

If it does, it will look like this:

Where do you do it?

DNSSEC has to be set up both in the name service and for the registration of the domain name.

You can use this guide when your name service (DNS) is here at Golden Planet, i.e. registered on the name servers ns.gpserver.dk and ns2.gpserver.com. To see which name servers your domain name is on, you can search for it at punktum.dk, for example – using the search field on punktum.dk (opens in a new tab)

If your name service is not with us, contact your name service provider.

You also need access to the self-service wherever you pay for the renewal of your domain name. If it is a .dk domain name registered directly with punktum.dk, go to their self-service here (in Danish) (opens in a new tab), or go to the control panel of the provider that renews/administers your domain name (for example simply.com, one.com or others).

How to get a new DNSSEC (with name service from us)

It is important that you make the switch in the name service and for the domain name at roughly the same time. So make sure you are logged in at punktum.dk before you go on.

First go to the customer login for PlanetController.

From the list, choose the domain name whose DNS is at Golden Planet.

Go to the DNS setup in PlanetController by choosing it in the drop-down menu or the overview

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Remove DNSSEC

Then create a new one by clicking Activate DNSSEC

You will now see the new DNSSEC, which you need to enter at punktum.dk (or wherever you administer your domain name).

What to do at punktum.dk

Go to the punktum.dk self-service (opens in a new tab) and log in. Note: if you log in with MitID (the Danish digital ID) and have several user IDs at punktum.dk, switch at the top right until you see the domain name.

Then click Administrér DNSSEC (Manage DNSSEC)

This takes you to the list of domain names. Next to the domain name, click Tilføj DNSSEC-nøgle (Add DNSSEC key)

Now enter the details from the DNS setup in PlanetController – as in this example

Click the Tilføj (Add) button

You should now get a confirmation like this one

IMPORTANT!! Now wait 24 hours before you continue with this guide

When at least 24 hours have passed, go back to the list of domain names. Next to the domain name, click Slet DNSSEC-nøgle(r) (Delete DNSSEC key(s))

Next to the keys, click Mere information (More information) to see which one has algorithm 13 and which ones have the old algorithm 7.

Now select only the one with algorithm 7 and click Videre (Next)

And then confirm

You should now receive a confirmation from punktum.dk, and everything should be in place.

If you have questions that are not about how to create DNSSEC keys here with us in PlanetController, contact punktum.dk’s customer service.
