Outlook as your email program
Enter your email address, click Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually and click Connect.
Under the account details, you have to choose between POP and IMAP.
POP creates local copies of emails and deletes the originals from the server, which means emails are tied to that specific machine and can’t be opened via webmail or a separate client on other computers.
Compared with POP, IMAP lets you log in to many different email clients or webmail interfaces and see the same emails, because the emails are kept on external email servers until the user deletes them. In a world where we now check our email via webmail, email clients and on mobile phones, IMAP has become very popular. It can mean extra costs for disk space if you don’t delete emails over time.
If you have chosen IMAP, fill in the connections like this and click Next:
- Incoming mail: server mail.gpserver.com, port 993, encryption method SSL/TLS
- Outgoing mail: server mail.gpserver.com, port 465, encryption method SSL/TLS
- Tick Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) for both incoming and outgoing mail
Enter your password and click Connect.
