Prepare e-conomic before you connect your online shop
What must be in place in e-conomic and in your online shop before you connect them: products for fees, unique product numbers and the optional setups.
On this page
The integration uses a few things in e-conomic that must exist before you connect your online shop. The most important are two products for fees. The rest is optional, but easiest to do from the start.
This guide is based on a new e-conomic with the standard setup e-conomic creates the first time you log in. There are many ways to keep accounts, and we are neither accountants nor bookkeepers. If you are unsure which accounts and groups to use, ask your accountant or e-conomic.
The steps in e-conomic were checked against e-conomic's own guides on 8 November 2026. e-conomic's menus are in Danish; we quote them as e-conomic shows them, with an English translation in brackets. If e-conomic has changed something since, their guides apply.
Try it in a trial first
We recommend that you try the integration on a free trial at e-conomic before you connect it to your real accounts. e-conomic offers 14 days free. That way you can see how orders, customers and products come across without affecting your accounts.
When you are happy with it, connect your shop to your real accounts and go through the integration's settings again, because groups, terms and products must be chosen from the accounts you connect to.
1: Create two products for fees
Shipping and payment fees go to e-conomic as lines on the order. Each line needs a product number in e-conomic, and it is the product's product group that decides which account the amount is booked to, and whether there is VAT. That is why you must create at least two products: one for fees with VAT and one for fees without VAT.
A new e-conomic has four product groups: "Varer m/moms" (goods with VAT), "Varer u/moms" (goods without VAT), "Ydelser m/moms" (services with VAT) and "Ydelser u/moms" (services without VAT).
- Go to Salg > Varer > Varer (Sales > Products > Products) and click "Ny vare" (New product).
- Enter
Gebyr m/momsas the product number, choose the product group "Ydelser m/moms", and name the product "Gebyrer med moms" (fees with VAT). Price and description don't matter, so you can leave them empty or set them to 0. - Click "Gem & ny" (Save & new).
- Create the second product the same way with the product number
Gebyr u/moms, the product group "Ydelser u/moms" and the name "Gebyrer uden moms" (fees without VAT). Click "Gem" (Save).
See also e-conomic's guide: Opret varer, ydelser og varegrupper (opens in a new tab) (in Danish).
You enter these product numbers later in the integration's setup in your shop.
2: Make sure every product has a unique product number
The integration links the products in your shop to the products in e-conomic by product number. That is why every product and variant must have a product number, and the same product number must not be used on two products. A product number can be at most 25 characters.
- Find products that share a product number: go to the product list and choose the view "With duplicate model/product no.".
- Give each of them its own product number, and give a product number to the products that don't have one.
- Go to Catalog > Default settings for new products and turn on "Unique model number". Then no one can save a product with a product number that is already used.
3: Payment terms and layout (optional)
The integration uses e-conomic's payment terms and layouts on the orders and invoices it creates. You choose them per payment method in the integration's setup. The ones e-conomic creates from the start are perfectly usable.
If you send invoices from e-conomic to your customers, it is a good idea to have a term for orders that have already been paid by card. Otherwise the invoice says that the customer must pay.
- Payment terms: Go to Salg > Opsætning > Betalingsbetingelser (Sales > Settings > Payment terms) and click "Ny betalingsbetingelse" (New payment term). "Navn" (Name) is the text shown on the invoice. For card payments you can choose the type "Forudbetalt" (prepaid). Note that "Dage" (Days) and "Type" cannot be changed afterwards, only the name. See e-conomic's guide to payment terms (opens in a new tab) (in Danish).
- Layout: If you want a separate layout, for example with the text "Paid" for the prepaid orders, go to Salg > Opsætning > Design og layout > Brevskabeloner (Sales > Settings > Design and layout > Letter templates) and click "Ny brevskabelon" (New letter template). See e-conomic's guide to letter templates (opens in a new tab) (in Danish).
4: An employee for your shop (optional)
The integration can set an employee as the reference on orders and customers. This makes it easier to pull sales reports for your shop. If you have several shops, each of them can have its own employee.
In e-conomic, an employee group must exist before you can create an employee:
- Go to Salg > Opsætning > Medarbejdere (Sales > Settings > Employees).
- Click "Medarbejdergrupper" (Employee groups) and then "Ny medarbejdergruppe" (New employee group). Enter a number and a name, and click "OK".
- Go back to the employees, click "Ny medarbejder" (New employee), fill in the fields, and click "OK".
See e-conomic's guide to employees (opens in a new tab) (in Danish).
When this is in place, you are ready to set up the integration in your shop.
